Body found in burnt down Montclair hotel

An investigation's been launched following the discovery of a body in the basement of a burnt down hotel in Montclair, south of Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says a fire gutted the old Moon Hotel on South Coast Road on Sunday.
It resulted in the basement being flooded.
Mbele says contractors who were called out on Monday to pump the water out made the grisly discover.
They came across the body floating in the water.

It's not known how long the body had been there for.
Mbele says the South African Police Service search and rescue team was alerted.
"The body of an unknown male was recovered and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
"An inquest docket is being investigated by Montclair SAPS."
