This follows days of violent community protests in the maize town, after a teenager died when he allegedly fell from a moving bakkie.

Several provincial government representatives, including Community safety MEC, Mokgantshang Motlhabane, visited the area yesterday after bail was granted to the two men accused of killing the 16-year-old.

Several houses were damaged during the protests after being set alight.

Residents, local community leaders, farmers, business owners and the school principal gathered in town for a meeting to discuss the situation.

The meeting decided to appoint a task team to calm people's emotions and focus on improving race relations.

The community was briefed on the decisions taken after the meeting.

People cheered as Motlhabane explained that they will appeal the decision to grant the accused bail.

"We are not happy with the decision and as a result we will appeal the decision. I am told that the family of the victim also want to appeal the decision," he told Jacaranda FM News.
