Attempted CIT heist in Umlazi leaves two injured

Law enforcement teams were at the scene of an attempted
cash-in-transit heist in Umlazi, south of Durban, on Wednesday.

Reports are that an unknown number of suspects opened fire on the cash van while the vehicle was travelling on the N2.
It is understood that security guards then decided to head into a nearby mall for safety.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson says two people were hurt.

"Paramedics found three occupants from the cash and transfer vehicle. Two had sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the shooting incident and knocking a vehicle outside the shopping complex.
"Paramedics are still currently in attendance and have stabilised them and will be transporting them to a nearby hospital shortly."
