ASATA disappointed by new NZ visa rule for SA
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The Association of South African Travel Agents says its disappointed by New Zealand's decision to have South African passport holders applying for a visa - before travelling to that country.
ASATA's CEO, Otto de Vries, believes the decision stems from a spike in official SA passports ending up in the hands of those who use them fraudulently.
De Vries believes New Zealand's new requirement will not deter those who frequent the country from doing so.
"What New Zealand may not have been very clear on in terms of the interpretation of the motivation for them to do this. I think it is something that we witnessed back in 2008/2009 when the UK also made changes requiring South Africans to apply for visa's before travelling to the UK," he said.
