The ANC Youth League led the protest through Scottburgh yesterday.

Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa and KZN MEC for Human Settlements Ravi Pillay also took part.

Newswatch caught up with these people who took to the streets.

"We don't want any racism to go on," said one youngster.

"I feel happy that racism is coming to an end," a Scottburgh resident said.

"This march is a good thing - it sends a message that South Africa belongs to all," one participant said.

"I feel that people are justified for fighting for their rights. I think all colours have come together at one point or another. A march like this just shows that people can still come together," another marcher said.

The ANC Youth League organised the protest after Scottburgh resident, Penny Sparrow referred to black beachgoers as monkeys.
