eThekwini Municipality's Integrity and Investigations Unit has busted another diesel theft syndicate.

Two men have been arrested in uMbumbulu, south of Durban.
In a statement, the city said investigators were dispatched to the area after receiving reports that several truck drivers were spotted offloading fuel in the Sawpits area.
They found a water tanker driver and a ward committee member in a private house with containers full of diesel.

The head of the unit, Jimmy Ngcobo, alleged that the suspects were reselling diesel for R400 per container to a local truck owner.
Ngcobo said investigators were offered a R50,000 bribe, which they turned down.
He said they had been previously investigating the same suspects for selling water from water tankers.
Ngcobo said a criminal case of diesel theft was opened at the uMbumbulu police station, and the suspects have appeared in court.
