Another call for probe into KZN healthcare services
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Some opposition parties in KZN are calling on the Health Department to investigate problem hospitals in the province.
They say there have been a number of complaints over the ill-treatment of patients by nurses.
"I asked them whether they have enough nurses or enough doctors and they say they don't have enough nurses or doctors. Most hospitals indicate that they have this problem," The IFP’s Ncamisile Nkwanyana says.
The DA’s Imran Keeka says someone needs to take responsibility.
"It's the responsibility of those that are in charge of the department to tell us why these things happened and how we will overcome it. There's a general lack of accountability," he says.

Health’s Agiza Hlongwana says patients who experience poor service at government facilities must follow the correct procedures.
"If you are unhappy about a service, there is a complaints mechanism in place. There's a PRO, a CEO - you can even go to the matron in charge and lay a complaint. These are taken very seriously. They are investigated and attended to," he says.
