Senior eNCA news anchor Andrew Barnes has been taken off air pending disciplinary proceedings - after he took issue live on on air - with the education minister's pronunciation of an English word.
After an insert with Angie Motshega speaking on the matric results was shown, Barnes told viewers that maybe someone should have a word with the minister about how to say the word "epitome".
Barnes said sorry on Twitter yesterday and the channel has also been flighting another recorded apology from the anchor this afternoon.
This comes in a week that has been characterised by a national debate on racism following various social media posts.

Economist Chris Hart was suspended form Standard Bank after he tweeted that victims of Apartheid have a sense of entitlement and hatred towards minorities.
Government employee Velaphi Khumalo has today apologised to his employer, the Gauteng Arts and Culture Department, the ANC and South Africans after saying that the country must be cleansed of all white people and that 'black people must do to white people what Hitler did to the Jews.'
He says that he hopes South Africans can find it in their hearts to forgive him. He is facing an internal disciplinary probe at the department.
The race row was sparked on social media after former Scottburgh estate agent Penny Sparrow referred to black people relaxing at Durban's beaches as monkeys in a Facebook post.
Complaints against Sparrow, Hart, Khumalo as well as Durban mobile gym business owner Justin van Vuuren who also made racist comments have been laid with the SA Human Rights Commission.
