ANC won’t suspend Senzo Mchunu – Mbalula
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
African National Congress secretary general,
Fikile Mbalula says the party stands by its decision not to suspend embattled
NEC member Senzo Mchunu, despite mounting pressure to do so.

The police minister was placed on a leave of absence last week after claims of interference in SAPS matters by KwaZulu-Natal top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Speaking to reporters in the Western Cape on Saturday, Mbalula said Mchunu, who remained active in party affairs, has not been found guilty of any crime and therefore no further action can be taken at this stage.
He said the ANC supports steps being taken to investigate the allegations, including the establishment of a commission of inquiry.

"Senzo is not guilty. He will answer to whatever that he needs to answer to. He himself has pronounced that he's ready to appear before the commission," said Mbalula.
"In relation to the ANC, he's a member of the working committee of the ANC, and he's not suspended. He's expected to execute his responsibility, and I've deployed for this weekend to do his work as a member of the working committee.
"And I will continue to deploy him to execute his task as and when it is required."
