The ANC wants the Sunday Times to retract its front page story yesterday which alleged senior party members are planning to remove President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The newspaper has named former President Jacob Zuma, secretary-general Ace Magashule and former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo as some of the party members who met in Durban last week - to discuss the plan

The ANC's Pule Made says it's all lies.

"The African National Congress rejects the Sunday Times story purporting to expose a plot to oust President Cyril Ramaphosa - as sensational hot air. The ANC will not dignify these blatant lies and fabrications with a detailed response. However, we would like to point out that we refute this shameless gossip.

Made says they also reject attempts to link the party's secretary-general to the alleged plot.

"It is clear that this malicious gossip is calculated to cast suspicions in the integrity and commitment of our secretary-general to the unity and renewal of the ANC. Comrade Aced Magashule, like all other leaders, is focused on the programme of unity, uniting the organisation as mandated by the Nasrec Conference," Made said.
