The ruling party says it has never doubted the loyalty or discipline of its MPs.

The ANC says it has no doubt that the motion, which it described as being hyped up by opposition parties, will fail like the many before it.

ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu said the removal of Zuma would be like dropping a nuclear bomb on South Africa last week.

The party says it will use the debate to speak of the successes achieved by the ANC.

When it comes to concerns around leadership - the statement continued to say the party will engage and work with its people to resolve challenges in the interest of the country as a whole.

The ANC says its focus remains advancing the gains of democracy and driving radical socio-economic transformation to the benefit of all South Africans.
