ANC, DA, Action SA only parties to declare donations: IEC
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The African National Congress, the Democratic Alliance and Action SA are the only parties to have declared their donations under the Political Party Funding Act.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says a combined amount just over R30 million in donations was received by the three parties.
The ANC was given R10,7 million, the DA R15,9 million and Action SA R3.3 million.
The act requires parties to disclose donations above R100 000.
Releasing the IEC's first quarterly report under the act, commissioner Janet Love said all registered parties had been sent reminders to declare their qualifying donations by the end of July.
"Although not all political parties responded, a significant number of them, especially among the representative parties, reported in writing that they did not receive any qualifying donations during the reporting period."
