ANC battle intensifies in the Free State

The ANC's deputy chairperson in the Free State, Thabo Manyoni, says he also believes his boss, Ace Magashule, is not fit to occupy the position of ANC Secretary General.

This after Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula earlier said Magashule would finish what's left of the party, should he be elected in December.

Manyoni is challenging Magashule for the leadership at the upcoming provincial conference.

"When it comes to perceptions, you know about the Guptas and what is happening in the Free State. You hear about Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa talking about the farm and we have heard about the wedding. Money that was supposed to go mainly to our kids for bursaries going to weddings," Manyoni says.

"Given that this happens during Magashule's time", then obviously I think Mbalula might not be off track."

The Free State leadership battle could have a massive impact on the national conference in December.

Manyoni says it's clear that Magashule is a Gupta puppet because he gave money for their children's wedding.

Manyoni attended the Elijah Baraji lecture yesterday in Welkom, which was delivered by Deputy President Ramaphosa.

Cosatu's First Deputy President Tyotyo James praised Manyoni to the delight of the crowd.
