AIDS 2016: Lack of funding impacts effective HIV treatment

The Global Fund needs to be fully replenished to the tune of $13 billion if the fight against HIV/AIDS is to be won.

This is according to International Civil Society Support Executive Director Peter van Rooijen.

The Global Fund  which is a financing organisation set up to fight AIDS, TB and malaria is preparing for its replenishment conference in September in Canada.

Speaking at the AIDS 2016 conference in Durban, Van Rooijen presented two reports showing that additional global funding is needed to make bigger strides in the fight against HIV and Aids and related diseases.

He says insufficient funding impacts treatment and adherence among other aspects.
