UKZN's in-person graduation ceremonies have made a return
after a two year break due to Covid-19.

Students and proud parents lset the stage on fire with celebrations this week with tears, songs and dance.
One of the graduates, Dumisani Ngobese from Bhukhanana, a rural area outside eMpangeni, could not hold back his tears after he was conferred with a Bachelor of Arts degree at a ceremony held at the UKZN’s Westville Campus on Friday.
He described his moment on stage as a short-lived but unforgettable moment.

"I thought about my journey towards this graduation. The push, my first day at varsity, how I was admitted at varsity."
The 23-year-old, who is now pursuing his honours degree, was raised by his maternal grandmother who was a street vendor and sole breadwinner supporting a family of 10.

She couldn't make it due to health issues.
"I wanted her to be there because I wanted her to be the eyewitness to reap the fruits of the hard work and dedication from the start until today," Dumisani said
