ActionSA headed to court over eThekwini's sewage crisis

ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal says it's heading to court to hand over papers on Wednesday to compel eThekwini Municipality and other authorities to remedy Durban's ongoing sewage crisis.

The party's hoping for swift action, saying the city’s mammoth sewage problem is affecting people in their homes, as well as our local rivers and beaches.


Provincial chairperson Zwakhele Mcwango says the president promised that money and resources would be pumped into the province after floods.

But he says seven months later, eThekwini's sewer network is still in need of repairs.


"We believe there is no reason why to date, eThewini and government have not prioritised the issue of sewer in eThekwini which has affected the livelihoods, and tourism. 


"That is why we have decided to go to court. We wrote to the municipality two weeks ago, we gave them 14 days and they failed to respond to our letters."
