ActionSA: Closure of beaches will impact Durban tourism
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
With the Durban July horse racing weekend around the corner, ActionSA in KZN says the closure of some of the beaches will be a huge blow for eThekwini tourism.

The municipality has closed Umhlanga and Bronze beaches following the failure of two pumps at Portland pump station last week.
It is reported that this resulted in poor water quality with some reports detecting high levels of E-coli.
Action SA's Alan Beesley says this will have a negative impact in the tourism industry.
"We are deeply concerned about the impact this is going to have the tourism industry, not only in Umhlanga but in the whole of eThekwini. The tourist industry in Umhlanga and eThekwini as a whole is on the back foot the sewage crisis is just making it worse and worse.”
Meanwhile, the city has confirmed it is working around the clock to reopen these beaches.
