A police investigation's been launched after a six-month-old baby was found dead in his cot in Verulam, north of Durban.

The infant is said to have been sleeping at the time.
KZN SAPS say it's alleged a lace curtain around the cot that keeps insects away became wrapped around the baby boy's face and body.

Paramedics from Reaction Unit SA responded to the home earlier today.
RUSA’s Prem Balram says paramedics commenced CPR but the child was declared deceased after a short while.
Verulam SAPS is investigating an inquest docket.
"It is alleged that a six-month-old baby was sleeping in the cot when the curtain used to protect the baby from being bitten by mosquitoes wrapped him on the face and body. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” Captain Nqobile Gwala said.
