6 hurt in Wartburg bakkie crash
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Emergency services have been kept busy on the roads this morning due to the wet driving conditions.
Paramedics have responded to several accidents that have led to traffic congestion in some areas.
Six people are receiving treatment after two bakkies and a motorbike collided on the R614, near Wartburg this morning.
Netcare911's Chris Botha says five people were seriously hurt while a sixth sustained only minor injuries.
"When we arrived there, one of the people was still trapped in the wreckage of a bakkie and the emergency services tried to use specialised equipment to extricate him from the vehicle. They were all stabilised and taken through to hospitals in Pietermaritzburg for further treatment," he said.
The exact cause of this crash is unknown.
