41 cents drop expected in petrol price
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
There could be more relief at the pumps for motorists - that's if the current fuel price data is anything to go by.
The Automobile Association says early indications are that petrol costs will plunge by almost 41-cents a litre next month with diesel prices expected to come down by 23-cents per litre.
The association's Layton Beard says the price drop can be attributed to the rand/dollar exchange rate.
"It has traded in a very narrow band between R12,30 and R12,40 to the US currency since the last week of December - bringing some welcomed stability. We believe that continued stability in fuel prices for 2018 will largely depend on political and economic factors which affect South Africa's attractiveness as an investment destination," he says.
