Police in Gauteng have confirmed that 14 people have been killed in a mass shooting at a Nomzamo Park tavern in Soweto.

Nine people have been taken to hospital due to multiple injuries sustained
Gauteng police commissioner Elias Mawela says while details remain sketchy, it preliminary investigations suggest an ambush.
“The primary investigations suggest that these people were just enjoying themselves at the tavern, some were playing pool when they started hearing gunshots and people dropping dead.
“After some time two of the injured try to escape but they passed on outside the tavern. Others were dead inside the tavern and two of those who were rushed to hospital in private cars, also unfortunately died on the way.”
“The owner of the tavern is the witness, and the detectives are busy interviewing him, but I can’t reveal anything right now. This is a very big crime scene, it will take us a more hours to discover more.”
