The 12 people arrested in connection with the murder of a Hawks officer appeared briefly before the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday.

Lieutenant-General Mathipa was murdered in August 2023 when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle along the N1, near the Hammanskraal toll plaza.
Mathipa was investigating a high-profile case involving members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
All of the accused are members of the SANDF, two of whom were arrested on Sunday at the OR Tambo International Airport and Centurion, respectively.
The other 10 were arraigned on Monday morning.
