Flood-hit beaches in Durban remain closed
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini is keeping all beaches in the municipality closed for now.
The city says it's still monitoring high levels of e-coli in the water following last month's devastating floods.
Concerns are emerging over the threat of water-borne diseases, leading to the decision to ban all water activities for the time being.
eThekwini's spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela says water tests are being carried out daily, and people will be informed when levels of the e-coli bacteria drop.

"We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience, but we must all be mindful that it is in the interest of safety and our city is doing everything in its power to ensure that the situation returns to normal with speed.
"This is as a result of the floods the city has experienced recently."
