Durban beaches closed after severe weather
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
Some Durban beaches have been closed to the public.

It's due to high seas and extensive structural damage following the heavy rain that has fallen.
Clean-up operations started yesterday.
aThekwini's Head of Parks and Recreation Thembinkosi Ngcobo says there is also a huge amount of flotsam and jetsam as well as organic matter in the water at the moment.
"From Umgababa up until Dakota beach in central town. The only beach in town that will be opened is Ushaka. Beaches from Durban central up until Umhlanga and Umdloti are closed," he said.
Ngcobo says they don't see the situation improving any time soon sooner - but that beachgoers will be notified later in the week about when the beaches will be reopened.
