The first song Kehlani learned to sing as a young girl was Mariah Carey's 'Hero', and now she is on a song with an idol.

Mariah Carey has debuted the next single from her upcoming album.

She has teamed up with Kehlani and Jamaican dancehall artist Shenseea on 'Sugar Sweet'.

"I'ma keep it nice, l'ma keep it neat/I'ma keep it sugar, I'ma keep it sweet," Carey sings in the pre-chorus.

Kehlani's feature on the track is a full-circle moment for the star. She shared a clip of herself singing Carey's 1993 classic, 'Hero', as a young girl.

"The earliest video of me singing and first song I ever learned was 'Hero' and everybody who knows me knows this is one of my heroes," she wrote on Instagram

Kehlani added that Carey is the "definition of an icon".

"To have given us so much, for DECADES & never fail to impress us through all the twists and turns music makes. I am so honoured and immensely grateful. There truly are no words, and @shenseea you’re an absolute BAD A** who is right on your way to legendary status yourself."

'Sugar Sweet' is the second single from Carey's sixteenth studio album, 'Here For It All'.

It follows the release of 'Type Dangerous' in June.

Carey first teased 'Sugar Sweet' on July 17. She shared a video of herself "cleaning" her mansion while singing the song.

The 56-year-old posted another clip of herself mixing what appears to be a cake batter. She is dressed in a pink dress and dripping in diamonds.

"From only these ten seconds, I'm already positive this is my song of the summer," one fan wrote.

During an interview on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', Carey revealed why she waited seven years to release a new album.

"I was just getting it together. I would make like four songs, and be like, 'We can start making an album now.' And then I would never do it. And then I got up to, like, 10 songs and we were basically ready with an album," she said.

Carey also revealed that she has guest artists on the album, but doesn't want to give anything away just yet.

'Here For It All' is due for release on September 26.
