Local and international film makers, along with actors, fans and a huge media contingent gathered at Suncoast Supernova to watch the premiere of Hard to Get on Thursday night.

The film is an action romance that explores the theme of love - in a dangerous way.

Pallance Dladla plays the character of TK, who is a handsome young womanizer. He falls for a sexy, young thief, Skiets, who is played by Thishiwe Ziqubu.

It’s a slick production that keeps you on the edge of your seat, interspersed with laugh-out-loud moments as well as raw violence.

Siphelele Buthelezi chatted to Thishiwe Ziqubu, aka Skiets, at the premiere:

Is this your first lead character you have played?
Yes, and I am so excited! Playing Skiets is my biggest lead role. I have acted in movies before, such as Man on Ground in 2011 and Her Majesty in 2012.

In the movie, Skiets is a criminal ‘superwoman’. Would you describe yourself as a superwoman?
Oh yes - but in a good way. [Like Skiets] I am also a brave woman - and fearless. I learnt a lot from her character; we need to face challenges and be able to overcome them.

Tell me about the journey of shooting the film with the rest of the cast and crew members
We met before we started shooting the movie - just to know each other better. For almost four weeks we were doing research. When I was briefed about my character, I spoke to a few ladies who used to do crime because I wanted to know more about it.

And what about those sex scenes. How did you do it?
(Laughs) Well, when we were shooting the movie, I didn’t have a problem. We are all professionals and know how to conduct ourselves. But during the screening of the movie I was so shy and scared because my dad was here.
