Cell C Sharks have slipped to second in the Currie Cup standings. They are four points behind the Cheetahs and lead the Blue Bulls on points-difference. The Cheetahs defeated the Sharks 38-30 in Durban last night.

Francois Kleinhans and Thomas du Toit scored tries for the hosts at Growthpoint Kings Park.
The Sharks have another home game this coming Saturday.
That is when they will host the EP Kings.
Kickoff is at 3pm.

Angelique Kerber has won the women's final at the US Open.
Kerber defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-3 4-6 6-4 in New York.
The men's final will feature Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka.

SA surfer, Jordy Smith, is through to the quarter-finals at the Hurley Pro.
Smith won a fourth round heat also featuring Kelly Slater and Michel Bourez.
Also through to the quarter-finals are Filipe Toledo, Tanner Gudauskas and Alex Ribeiro.
Mick Fanning was eliminated in the third round in California.

Gennady Golovkin has retained his WBC and IBF middleweight belts.
This after stopping Kell Brook in the fifth round of their title fight.
Golovkin, from Kazakhstan, has won all 36 his professional bouts.
Brook was undefeated ahead of his stoppage loss last night.

Bidvest Wits have drilled Cape Town City 3-0 in their MTN 8 semi-final first leg encounter.
Eleazar Rodgers, Elias Pelembe and Gabadinho Mhango struck for the Clever Boys in Johannesburg.
Chippa United and Sundowns have an MTN 8 semi-final first leg date later today.
Sundowns have doubts about the fitness of several players including Keagan Dolly and Ricardo Nascimento.

Chelsea remain without the injured Kurt Zouma for their English Premiership date at Swansea City today.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are now fifth in the league standings.
The Reds drilled Leicester City 4-1 last night.
Roberto Firmino netted twice for the hosts at Anfield.

Barcelona have lost in La Liga.
Alaves beat the defending champions 2-1 at Camp Nou last night.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric both scored for Real Madrid in a 5-2 victory over Osasuna.
Antoine Griezmann netted twice for Atletico Madrid in their 4-0 success at Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid lead FC Sevilla by two points at the top of the log.

Juventus won in Italian Serie A last night.
Gonzalo Higuain scored twice in their 3-1 victory over Sassuolo.

Jorge Lorenzo will start the MotoGP of San Marino in pole position.
Valentino Rossi is second on the grid, while Maverick Vinales is third and Marc Marquez fourth.
Marquez is 50 points clear of Rossi at the top of the championship standings.

Team SA have now won two gold medals at the Rio Paralympics.

Hilton Langenhoven claimed our second gold in the long jump last night.
