He's been campaigning in Soweto, with just a few days to go before the local government elections.

Zuma told a crowd that had gathered that the ancestors are not happy when people abandon the ANC, even saying this will bring them bad luck for life.

He also told them the ANC brought them freedom and is the only party with concrete policies to improve people's lives.

Zuma has no doubt that the ANC will emerge victorious come August 4, after voting day.

"We are sure that on the third, people will vote ANC and I am happy that we are in Soweto and I think the people here remain [behind] the ANC.

"There's no doubt about that. So I'm happy - I'm leaving with a happy heart," he said.

Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela Bay DA mayoral candidate Athol Trollip says the political tide is turning in his area.

He says corruption is the main reason why people are now aligning with the Democratic Alliance.

The DA also went on a door-to-door campaign in Soweto today, with Trollip saying he's also confident of change in the township.
