Student protests turn violent at UKZN Pietermaritzburg campus
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Police are closely monitoring the situation at UKZN's Pietermaritzburg campus, after student protests turned violent earlier today.

The students have been protesting since Monday, which led to the university suspending classes until today.
Students are unhappy with residences, financial aid, and proposed fee increments for the next academic year.
The police's Nqobile Gwala says the students have dispersed and traffic is now running smoothly in the area.
“We can confirm the process that is taking place at the UKZN PMB campus. Rubber bullets were used to disperse the violent students, and no arrests have been made. The members are still at the scene.”
University management met with student representatives last night, following Monday’s violent protests at the institution.
