Search ongoing for Joburg man at Umdloti beach
The search continues this morning for a Gauteng man believed to have drowned at Umdloti beach, north of Durban.
The man and a friend went swimming yesterday when they were caught in a current and swept out to sea.
Lifeguards raced to try and rescue the men.
They managed to secure a floatation device around one of them. Unfortunately, the second man disappeared below the water. Netcare911's Chris Botha says the man is now presumed to have drowned.
"The lifeguards, paramedics and police search and rescue have been there for quite some time. The search and rescue will continue the search to try and find the body of the man," he said.
