Ganesh had been speaking at the Lakehaven Child and Youth Care Centre yesterday.

The centre houses 63 people but only 18 had been on the premises at the time of the fire.

Ganesh says the community is in a state of shock.

"We do hope the cause of the fire is determined and if there has been negligence they must take the necessary action.

"We also hope that whatever was the cause was eliminated so we don't have future occurrences of this disastrous nature" he said.

Seven children under the age of 18 were among those killed in the tragedy.
