Protesters burn tyres as Hammanskraal violence continues

A massive protest in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria has gone well into it's second day while law enforcement officers attempt to contain the situation.

Violence broke out on Monday after informal settlements - thought to have been illegally built - were destroyed.
Is it reported residents took to the streets with no alternative arrangements for temporary homes.

While police continue to patrol the streets, five people have since been arrested in connection with damage to property.
Two people have been killed in the unrest.
Mayor of Pretoria, Kgosientso Ramakgopa, is expected to visit the area today. While spokesperson, Blessing Manale says they are planning community meetings to resolve the issue.
