Police were out in full force in various parts of Pretoria yesterday night after violent protests started in the CBD.

The situation was calm this morning with debris scattered all over roads in Mamelodi.
More than 18 buses were torched.
Protests erupted after Thoko Didiza was announced as the Tshwane Mayoral Candidate in the upcoming local government election.
The protests kicked off in the Pretoria CBD when a TMPD car was overturned.
Later yesterday more protests erupted in Atteridgeville with residents saying they will not vote if current Tshwane Mayor, Kgosientso Ramakgopa is not brought back.
The ANC in the region has scheduled a press briefing for today to outline its view on the appointment of Didiza as the mayoral candidate.
