Pilot killed in Pretoria plane crash, passenger survives

A pilot of a light aircraft was killed, but his passenger survived, when they crashed near the Kitty Hawk Aerodrome this morning.

They crashed shortly after take off, about 1km from the airfield in Pretoria East, Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said.
Provincial EMS tried CPR to revive the man, but he was declared dead after 45 minutes.
Aviation authorities were investigating the cause of the crash.This was the third aircraft accident in just two days.
Two people survived with minor injuries after their small aircraft crashed in Midrand on Wednesday morning.
The plane was found lying upside down in a veld near the local airport.
Also on Wednesday, a man was killed when his light aircraft crashed in a game reserve in Herbertsdale, near Mossel Bay, in the Western Cape. The pilot's body was found some distance from the aircraft.
