Officer hurt after shootout in Phoenix business robbery

A police officer has been shot and wounded during a shootout between police and robbers in Phoenix, north of Durban.

It's understood 10 men entered a food outlet pretending to be maintenance workers.
They then produced guns and demanded valuables from employees.
The group made off with cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money.

Police arrived on the scene as the robbers were fleeing and a shootout ensued, with one officer being hit.
The police's Thulani Zwane says a suspect was also shot and remains in hospital under police guard.
