NPA boss must be suspended: Helen Suzman Foundation
Updated | By ECR Newswatch, AlgoaFM News
The Helen Suzman Foundation and Freedom Under Law have appealed to President Jacob Zuma to suspend the head of the National Prosecuting Authority, advocate Shaun Abrahams.
The parties wrote a letter to President Zuma yesterday - after Abrahams withdrew fraud charges against Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, on Monday.

The organisations, which challenged the charges against the Finance Minister, said that the NPA - with Abrahams' support - brought "obviously baseless criminal charges" against Gordhan and his former deputies, Ivan Pillay and Oupa Magashula.
Freedom Under Law and the Helen Suzman Foundation said that through this, Abrahams has shown that he is not fit and proper to lead the NPA.
Transcript of letter:
Piet Olivier is with the Helen Suzman Foundation.
"We believe that the whole saga around Pravin Gordhan indicates that he is fundamentally unfit for office, and not fit and proper, and that the president should therefore suspend him. He held this press conference, he was explicitly asked to apologise, and he vehemently refused to do so," he said.
