Mount Edgecombe hijacking: vehicle found, murder case opened
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
The bakkie that was hijacked earlier today in Mount Edgecombe has been found abandoned and empty in the Waterloo area, north of Durban.
Police have also now confirmed that three men and not two as initially thought had been inside the bakkie when suspects opened fire on the M41 off Flanders Road.
The bakkie is said to have been carrying a consignment of cigarettes.

The police's Nqobile Gwala says one of the men was killed, one wounded while the third managed to escape unharmed.
She says there are still no leads on the whereabouts of the suspects.
"Charges of murder, attempted murder and carjacking have been opened for investigation at Phoenix [Police Station]," she said.
Gwala says the unharmed man later gave a statement to the police on the incident.
