McBride claims charges against him are a consipracy
Robert McBride says there is a conspiracy against him and his co-accused.
The fraud case against the suspended IPID boss and two others has been postponed to April 15 in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.
They are accused of involvement in the illegal rendition of five Zimbabweans six years ago.
McBride is also said to have deliberately left out parts out of a report which allegedly implicated former national Hawks boss Anwa Dramat.
McBride, Matthew Sesoko, and Innocent Khuba have all been granted bail of R1500.
He addressed reporters outside court.
"We are quite clear that this is a ruse. The fact that the investigation is conducted by a unit called Crimes against the State is just to add gravitas and seriousness to a non-offence.
"In essence, what we are accused of is an investigative opinion that has been changed by the investigator because of new additional and contradictor evidence to what was first stated," he said.
