Madonsela speaks on her possible successor
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says there's no point in government appointing a successor that will lead them towards a cliff.

Madonsela had been speaking yesterday after the Constitutional Court emphasised the importance of her office during its judgement on the Nkandla matter.
The ConCourt found that President Jacob Zuma violated his Constitutional duties by failing to follow the Public Protector's recommendations regarding upgrades to his private home in northern KZN.
Madonsela says her successor must be a patriot who wants to strengthen democracy in South Africa.
"I have always said to government, to wish to have a public protector who tells you lies is to wish to have an enemy who calls himself or herself a friend.
"I don't think they will appoint somebody who will tell them what they would like to hear. I think they will appoint somebody who will tell them what they need to hear," she said.
