Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A KZN woman has been arrested after being discovered to be the mastermind behind a syndicate that has defrauded social security agency, SASSA of over R34 million.

On Friday members of the Hawks, SAPS and SASSA fraud management tracked down and arrested the woman along with 13 other people in all parts of the country.
Hawks spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda, says the suspect was arrested in the Western Cape and will appear in court with the others tomorrow.
"She is believed to be the one in charge of operations to manufacture ID books," he said.
"When we went to her home in KZN, Umhlanga Ridge, we found ID documents and machinery used to manufacture cards and other equipment they used in order to gain from the SASSA grants," Netshiunda .
