"Violence will never solve problems, it only begets more violence.  We call for an end to violence in the taxi industry, because our priority is to help it grow to greater heights.”

Kaunda added that there must be respect for the rule of law.

The newly-appointed MEC was speaking in a meeting with the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco). Kaunda said he would work together with the taxi industry to improve relations.

“This government has prioritised economic transformation therefore this industry is important, because it has buying power. You must look at the bigger picture and make a meaningful impact, and ensure that African people benefit from the economic growth of the country,” said Kaunda.

Kaunda added that industry players should prioritise peaceful negotiations.
