Education officials have met with the principals and district representatives of four high schools in Msinga in northern KZN who haven't been able to sit for their exams due to faction fights.
Some pupils at the Bhambatha, Macingwane, Mjonge and KwaZenzele high schools have been affected.
It's not yet clear what the cause of the disruptions in Msinga where five of seven Grade 12 learners haven't been able to write their final exams.
Speaking to media at one of the most affected schools, KwaZenzele High School, KZN Education MEC Mthandeni Dlungwane says two of the seven boys from feuding families have been in hiding since last month.
Teacher's union SADTU Nomarashiya Caluza has urged the departments of Community Safety and Education to intervene, saying it's a crucial time for learners.
"We are disturbed by the reports that we are getting in that there are four schools in Msinga that have been disrupted. Learners especially the boys are unable to write their matric exam. It's very disturbing," she said.
