Howell Estate eviction called off
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Residents of Howell Estate in Sydenham are relieved after the eviction they were facing was called off.

They have been protesting since last night after receiving eviction notices from the owners of the estate - first Metro Housing Project, saying residents need to cough up R1 800 or leave by tomorrow.
Residents have told Newswatch they moved into the homes more than a decade ago under the impression they were renting to own.
They say enough is enough.
First Metro would not comment instead referring Newswatch to the Department of Human Settlements.
The department's National Rapid Response Task Team has confirmed they will be holding a meeting with the parties involved on Monday.
