Hot air balloon crashes in the North West
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Two adults and a child have been injured after a hot air balloon carrying 14 people crashed into a tree in the Buffelsfontein area near the Buffelspoort dam in the North West this morning.
Netcare 911 says a helicopter has been dispatched to transport a toddler to a hospital in Johannesburg.
"The child is being flown to a level 1 trauma facility in Johannesburg that caters for the intensive care of children under the age of 16 years old who have been subjected to serious physical trauma," says Netcare 911's Athlenda Mathe.
Reports from the scene indicate that there were at least fourteen people on board the hot air balloon.
"One adult is in a critical condition and the other has sustained moderate injuries, they were both stabilised on scene by paramedics from the Hartebeespoort EMS and other services before being transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care," says Mathe.
