Gumede sets agenda for eThekwini council duties
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Economic growth, job creation, speeding up service delivery and social and rural development are among the issues topping the list of priorities for eThekwini's new council.

The ANC's Zandile Gumede delivered her maiden speech yesterday at the Durban City Hall.
She was elected mayor for eThekwini yesterday and has thanked the previous council for the foundation it laid.
She said the task moving forward will be to consolidate and accelerate previous achievements.
Meanwhile, Gumede says regular meetings and feedback sessions will be convened to ensure councillors are accountable to their communities.
Gumede received the mayoral chain after clinching 124 out of 214 votes while the DA's mayoral candidate, Zakhele Mcwango received 87 votes.
