Government calls for an end to violent fees protests
Government has moved to assure students that it's prioritising their call for free higher education, while pleading with them to put an end to the violence during the Fees Must Fall protests on campuses.
In a statement issued by the Government Communications and Information Systems (GCIS) at the weekend, government echoed the sentiments of others - that violence and destruction of property is unwarranted and criminal behaviour.
GCIS says the fees matter is receiving full and urgent attention with the establishment of a Ministerial Task Team.

Acting director general Donald Deephoko says they're trying to find a resolution that will help move the country forward:
"No right-thinking Sooth Africans - it doesn't matter if you talk to students, academics, parents - no one has an interest in seeing these important institutions collapse. And the president of South Africa has taken this issue to heart, and established a ministerial task team to look very closely at the issues around higher education," he said.
