Former Durban metro cop family shocked over his drug arrest abroad
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The family of a former Durban metro police officer arrested for alleged drug trafficking almost a month ago in Peru says they are still in shock over his detention.

Forty-two year old Edward Thompson had travelled to the South American country at the beginning of last month to do a security job. He was arrested two weeks later, around the same time his family was expecting him to travel back home.
His brother, Dion Thompson, says Edward is quite adamant that the bag in which the drugs were found was not his and they believe him.
"It is just not his nature. This is not something he would have done at all. He has 2 boys and drugs have never been a part of his life," he said.
"He has always been open, honest and direct. So we do not know how this happened but we will figure something out," Thompson said.
