Executors dispel rumours of family feud over Mandela estate
Executors of late former President Nelson Mandela's will say there was no infighting among family members, despite media reports to the contrary.
The distribution of cash bequests was announced at the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in Johannesburg today.
Executors of Mandela's Estate include former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Mosoneke and Madiba's lawyers, struggle stalwart George Bizos.
The executors have stated no assets were sold in order to pay the bequests. Among the recipients were Mandela's driver, Michael Maponya, Fort Hare University and Orlando West High in Soweto.
Mandela's Qunu home has been left out of the account.
Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Mosoneke said the final distribution of assets is still to take place.
"We anticipate preparing and lodging with the master's second and final liquidation and distribution account after dealing with the Qunu home together with its movable assets once the dispute between the executive and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has been resolved," he said.
Moseneke also took the opportunity to dispel any reports about family feuds.
"To lay the rest the suggestions there is going to be big rancour and fights. For me, personally, I've received nothing but continual support," he said.
