eThekwini responds after security staff's salary demands
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Bodyguards have again stormed an eThekwini EXCO meeting in a bid to get councillors to take their demands over pay seriously.

It's the second time in as many months that a council sitting has been interrupted by members of the VIP Protection Unit and the eThekwini Security Management Unit who've been unhappy with their salary grade levels.
According to the DA, about 90 security personnel barged into the meeting room yesterday with a memorandum of demands which was apparently seen only by ANC members of the EXCO.
City Speaker Logie Naidoo says understands their staff's concerns.
"The city says that it's not the right thing to do but we equally understand the frustrations the issues that have not been resolved. We need to look at the broader picture - it's not just a few staff - there's quite a few staff in different sectors that are affected by the salary grading issue," he said.
