Disgruntled ANC members stage another march to Durban offices

The Durban city centre has come to a standstill as hundreds of African National Congress members are yet again marching to the party's KwaZulu-Natal headquarters on Stalwart Simelane Street.

This is the second march in as many weeks as some members continue to express their unhappiness over the ANC Provincial Conference in Pietermaritzburg earlier this month, which saw Sihle Zikalala take over as provincial chairperson.

Escorted by dozens of police officers, the ANC members have made their way from Botha's Park through the city centre chanting and clearly expressing their support for ousted ANC Provincial Chairman Senzo Mchunu.

Adding to their frustration today are the scenes that played out in the Provincial Legislature last week when Sihle Zikalala was sworn in as an MPL and reported to have occupied the seat of the Premier at the proceedings.

Police have formed a human barrier outside Pixley Ka Isaka Seme House in a bid to manage the crowd that is carrying posters that read "We demand a rerun" and "Sihle Must Fall".
